Nationwide Access, the countrys leading powered access
rental company, is now offering painting and decorating contractors
an effective solution to the costly repainting of boom and
scissor lift baskets that have become defaced with paint splashes
or overspraying. The company can now supply paint shrouds
as an optional extra for the most popular machines in its
6,000-strong hire fleet.
The disposable plastic shrouds cover the platforms
entire basket, where Nationwide says, 90 percent of the damage
occurs. The shrouds take just a few minutes to fit and cost,
depending on the size of the basket, in the region of £50
each. This compares more than favourably with remedial and
repainting bills that typically are in the order of £200.
The equation becomes even more attractive if the shrouds are
reused on subsequent contracts.
Clear panels are incorporated into the shrouds to ensure that
decals, safety and operating instructions are not obscured,
and the material is tear-resistant and non-slip. They have
been introduced by Nationwide to replace the more costly alternative
method of protecting baskets the application of barrier
wax as the wax remains tacky and is expensive to apply
and remove.
While spray painting is the activity that is most likely
to result in damage to the access equipment, the shrouds are
likely to be a cost-effective solution for contractors involved
in general building maintenance work, fire protection coating,
industrial cleaning and pest control. They are also expected
to be popular with contractors working in environments where
hygiene is a major consideration, such as food and beverage
processing plants.
The shrouds are available from any of Nationwides
50 depots and can be supplied when any piece of powered access
equipment is hired. The company can also supply disposable
tyre covers for when contractors are working in gymnasiums
and shopping malls.
Nationwide is part of the publicly-quoted Lavendon Group
Plc and is headquartered in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The
Group is European market leader in the powered access rental
market, trading under the name Zooom in France, Germany, Spain
and Austria. Full details on the Nationwide offering of booms,
scissor lifts and truck mounted units are included in Nationwides
new Guide to Powered Access, and can also be found at
