Backing
its commitment to meeting customers' needs, Nationwide, continues
to increase the size of its scissor lift fleet, this time
with the addition of two new Liftlux scissor lifts. The new
SL260-25 DS machines are, according to Nationwide, ideally
suited to applications such as industrial and commercial cladding
and glazing thanks to their extended height, load capacity
and large work platform area.
The SL260-25's specification includes a 28.3-metre working
height, a maximum load of 1,000kg and a bumper 6.7-metre by
2.5-metre extending platform. It is also capable of travelling
to or from its full extension in well under 90 seconds, proving
it to be a highly efficient, cost effective method of working
at various elevated positions around site. The decision to
add these two new machines to the fleet, the company says,
was based on the demand for its six, already successful SL205-25
DS units.
The
SL205-25 is essentially a smaller version of the SL260-25.
It has a working height of 22.5-metres, the same maximum load
of 1,000kg, but has a 5.3-metre by 2.5-metre work platform.
However, apart from the dimensional differences, the two models
share many of the same features.
These
include the Liftlux triple-arm scissor design, which provides
greater stiffness in elevated positions and so less movement
of the platform at extended height. Also, when fully extended,
the scissors have a very narrow profile which, when combined
with the large platform deck, greatly improves both model's
access capabilities.
Permanent
four-wheel drive ensures that neither model will get bogged
down, while wide foam-filled tyres improve stability and rough
terrain capabilities. Both models also incorporate the Nivolux,
patented outrigger device, which enables the machine to achieve
within plus or minus 0.1 degree automatic self-levelling on
uneven or sloping ground, ensuring a safe working platform
at all times.
Currently
there are around 50 scissor lift options on offer from Nationwide,
all of which can be accessed from any of the company's 50-plus
depots that are spread the length and breadth of the country.
They provide safe and reliable vertical access platforms for
working heights between six metres and 26 metres, with safe
working load capacities of up to 1,000kg. Three power options
are available; diesel, which is popular for external use,
electric, for indoor use where emissions are unacceptable,
and bi-powered.
Nationwide
is part of the publicly-quoted Lavendon Group Plc and is headquartered
in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. Its hire fleet is twice the
size of its nearest UK competitor and all of the company's
depots comply with Nationwide's ISO 9002 accreditation. The
Group is also a major player in the European powered access
market, trading under the name Zooom in Germany, France, Spain
and Austria.
