Nationwide Platforms opens flagship depot at Avonmouth
Nationwide Platforms has relocated its Bristol depot from Ashton Gate to Avonmouth, in a move to establish a new flagship site.
This major investment to develop Nationwide Platform’s largest depot in the UK is transforming the way the company operates in the area. More machines have been purchased to supplement the relocated fleet, giving customers more choice as the number and variety of machines available increases by almost 30%. There has been a focus on sustainability when sourcing the new kit, and the vast majority are either electric or hybrid.
Customers will be better catered for in other ways too. An additional 10 employees are being recruited to establish an engineering night shift and increase the size of the on-site call centre to ensure customers receive swift and efficient service.
Safety is a priority for Nationwide Platforms, reflected in its status as Europe’s largest provider of specialist at-height training. Following the success of its ground-breaking virtual reality simulators at its training centre in Cosby, a VR facility has also been introduced at Avonmouth. This provides operators with a true-to-life experience of operating access platforms in a safe and controlled environment.

This announcement follows a major programme of investments in Nationwide Platform’s UK fleet over the year, in which the company invested in over 1,100 new machines, increasing its 13,500-machine fleet by more than 8%. With higher capacity models, improved safety features and either fully electric or hybrid engines, the investment ensures the company’s portfolio of machines for hire continues to have an unmatched level of capability across the UK.
