Panther boom cleaning Trafalgar squareWherever you find a lot of pigeons, you will also find lots of little reminders that the pigeons have indeed been there! Trafalgar Square in London is one such place and Panther Platforms has supplied the access needed for cleaning work that keeps the famous landmark looking perfect for a tourist snap.

Mitie, the Leading facilities and maintenance company, hired a 21.80m telescopic boom from Panther to clean; parts of Nelson’s Column, the surrounding statues and pillars, and all the ornate lampposts which have long been popular perches for Londoners of the winged variety.

Mitie’s Joel Turner, one of the operators working at Trafalgar Square, said: “A job such as this one can be very time consuming when using more traditional methods of access such as aluminium towers or ladders. Using powered access means it is now quicker to complete our work at height and, more importantly, a lot safer.”
